AIT Walk-Through Portal
The world has changed – Evolving threats and an ever-expanding list of prohibited items and substances compromise passenger security at the checkpoint. As shown by the NWA Flight 253 attack in December 2009, conventional walk-through metal detectors lack detection capabilities to face these new challenges and safely protect passengers from any threats at checkpoints.
Optosecurity has begun a development effort to integrate its core XMS technologies into walk-through portals to provide automated threat detection for personal screening. PICASO (for Portal Image Contextual Analysis Software) is intended to enhance the next generation automatic detection performance and improve target recognition of such body scanners.
PICASO software is based on 3D computer vision and contextual visual analysis. Using proprietary contextual algorithms, Contextness®, PICASO is aimed to allow the removal of fully analyzed architectural features commonly found on the body in order to better detect anomalies driven by objects hidden under clothing.
