Lead by CEO Eric Bergeron, the executive team brings together top industry knowledge and experience.

Eric Bergeron, P. Eng., M. Sc.

President and CEO
Eric Bergeron brings more than 20 years of global international management experience in high-tech industries, including business development, sales, technology and finance. Prior to starting Optosecurity in 2003, he worked for Venture Capital fund Innovatech Quebec, as well as for US-headquartered Invertix Corporation, a leading provider of wireless infrastructure software, where he served as VP and General Manager of its European division in The Netherlands. Before, he was General Manager at ZKS Inc, an encryption software vendor and Director of Strategic Technology Development for Telesystem International Wireless Inc., a global mobile operator. Mr. Bergeron began his career at Bell Canada, spending eight years in management positions.

Mr. Bergeron is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI) since 2007 and is a Member of the Canadian Government's Science, Technology and Innovation Council.  He is a Former Director of Photintech Inc. and of Cilys Inc., which was acquired by Openwave Systems Inc.

Mr. Bergeron holds a M. Sc. degree in Telecommunications from the University of Quebec and a B.S. Degree in Engineering Physics from Laval University, Quebec.  He is a member of the IEEE and the Quebec Order of Professional Engineers (OIQ). Mr. Bergeron has completed the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management Entrepreneurship Development Program in 2010.

Dan Gudmundson, M. Sc.

Chief Technology Officer
Dan Gudmundson brings over twenty years of high technology management and design experience to the team. He holds over 40 patents in the area of signal and image processing and computer processor architectures. Mr. Gudmundson has assembled and guided design groups that have developed market-leading products with LSI Logic, ATI Technologies, Matrox Graphics, Leitch Technologies and Cirrus Logic. He brings a unique perspective to the company with leading edge highly complex SoC (System-on-Chip) imaging and systems solutions experience as well as significant expertise in the area of ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) design and SoC systems.

Mr. Gudmundson holds a B. Sc. Degree in Physics from the University of British Columbia and the San Francisco University and a M. Sc. in Computer Architecture from the San Jose State University.

Timothy Mathews, B. S.

Vice-President – Business Development, Sales and Marketing
Timothy Mathews brings more than 15 years experience in sales, marketing, business development, product management, and general management for global high-tech companies. Prior to joining Optosecurity, he worked for Symetrica Inc., a leading radiation detection technology company as Vice President of the U.S. operations. Previously, he was Global General Manager of the Government and Military Business for GE Security, where he had P&L responsibility for $100M Chemical & Biological Detection and identification technology portion of an approximately $400M business that serves global markets in Aviation, Military, Homeland Security, Nuclear Power, Customs and Border Protection, Intelligence, and Law Enforcement Applications. He previously was Vice-President of Marketing and Business Development at GE Security where he served as the business representative on a cross functional business development team that led to a $1B technology acquisition. He led as the sales & marketing functional leader through due diligence and integration planning, and integration of the acquisition.

Mr. Mathews has completed the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management Entrepreneurship Development Program in 2010. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the Tufts University (Medford, MA).

Luc Perron, B. Eng., M. Sc.

Vice-President Product Management
Mr. Perron brings near 30 years of various management experience at Optosecurity. He started his career as an Aerospace Engineer in the Canadian Armed Forces and retired with the rank of Major after 20 years of service. During his military career, he occupied several management positions related to the field of software engineering or imaging, including the direction of a Digital Image Processing laboratory for the Military Intelligence in Ottawa and the direction of the Canadian Forces Imaging Test and Evaluation Laboratory also in Ottawa. He later became an associate director for DMR Consulting, a Division of Fujitsu, where he lead several high profile IT projects in content management such as the backlog conversion operation for the Quebec Land Titles project. He was often called upon to contribute as an imaging expert in projects outside of Canada for other Fujitsu consulting offices around the world. Mr. Perron was awarded the title of Master of Information Technology by the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM) in 1999.

Mr. Perron holds a Bachelor in mechanical engineering from the Royal Military College (Kingston, Canada) and a Master Degree in Imaging Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
