Q.
What exactly does the OptoScreener add to the performance of standard X-ray systems?
A.
The OptoScreener is an upgrade for checkpoint X-ray systems that detects weapons and identifies
liquid threats, without opening containers.
Q.
What are the unique benefits of your technology?
A.
The OptoScreener offers many benefits, the top five being:
- Fast & INLINE solution for existing X-ray systems. The OptoScreener solution does not add additional steps and processes and that can slowing flow.
- Upgrades existing equipment, no need to replace existing or legacy systems to improve security.
- Consistent threat detection from checkpoint to checkpoint. The OptoScreener adds an "extra set of eyes" to each checkpoint, aiding the screener to identify threats.
- 100% pre-board screening - no sampling.
- Our unique solution for liquid threat detection without having to open liquid containers.
Q.
Is the product ready for sale at this time?
A.
In the fall of 2007 we started technology/field trials with various government agencies in USA, Canada, and Europe.
These deployments are designed to provide both quantitative and qualitative feedback from the product used
in a live environment. Following these trials, we will be announcing the anticipated launch date.
Q.
Is the OptoScreener compatible with all X-ray vendors?
A.
The product is designed to be agnostic – however, there are minor differences between each vendors X-ray
signal that do require customization. To accelerate development and deployment timelines we have focused on specific vendors that have complementary feature sets and those vendors with larger market share in our
strategic markets.
Q.
Does the OptoScreener works with multi-view systems?
A.
A multi-view compatible system is currently in development for trial deployment.
Minimal customization is required.
Q.
Can the OptoScreener replace the work done by an Operator (Screening Officer)?
A.
No, the OptoScreener is designed to automate and speed up the threat detection process by helping the operator to better evaluate threats in scanned items. The operator always remains in full control of the screening process. It is always the responsibility of the operator to decide what action to take after receiving a warning message from the OptoScreener..
Q.
Will installing the OptoScreener affect the X-ray machine warranty?
A.
The OptoScreener clamps to the side of legacy or new X-ray machines without modifying original equipment (no drilling or cutting) and should not compromise the warranty.
