Eric Bergeron, P.Eng., M.Sc.
President and CEO
Eric Bergeron, brings 19 years of global
international management experience in high-tech industries, including business
development, sales, technology and finance. Prior to starting Optosecurity, he
worked for Venture Capital fund Innovatech Quebec, as well as for US-headquartered
Invertix Corporation, a leading provider of wireless infrastructure software,
where he served as VP and General Manager of its European division in The Netherlands.
Before, he was General Manager at ZKS Inc, an encryption software vendor and Director
of Strategic Technology Development for Telesystem International Wireless Inc.,
a global mobile operator. Eric began his career at Bell Canada, spending
eight years in management positions. Eric was elected to the
Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Defence and Security
Industries (CADSI) in 2007 and was recently appointed member of the Canadian
Government's Science, Technology and Innovation Council. He is a
Former Director of Photintech Inc. and of Cilys 53 Inc., which was
acquired by Openwave Systems Inc.
Dan Gudmundson, B.Sc., M.Sc.
Chief Technology Officer
Dan Gudmundson brings over
twenty years of high technology management and design experience to the team.
He holds over 40 patents in the area of signal and image processing and computer processor
architectures. Dan has assembled and guided design groups that have developed market-leading
products with LSI Logic, ATI Technologies, Matrox Graphics, Leitch Technologies and most
recently Cirrus Logic. Dan brings a unique perspective to the company with leading edge
highly complex SoC (System-on-Chip) imaging and systems solutions experience as well as
significant expertise in the area of ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit)
design and SoC systems.
Tim Mathews B.Sc.(Eng)
Vice-President – Sales & Business Development
Tim Mathews brings more than 15 years experience in sales, marketing, business development, product management, and general management for global high-tech companies. Prior to joining Optosecurity, he worked for Symetrica, Inc., a leading radiation detection technology company as Vice President of the U.S. operations. Previously, he was Global General Manager of the Government and Military Business for GE Security, where he had P&L responsibility for $100M Chemical & Biological Detection and identification technology portion of an approximately $400M business that serves global markets in Aviation, Military, Homeland Security, Nuclear Power, Customs and Border Protection, Intelligence, and Law Enforcement Applications. He previously was Vice-President of Marketing and Business Development at GE Security where he served as the business representative on a cross functional business development team that led to a $1B technology acquisition. He led as the sales & marketing functional leader through due diligence and integration planning, and integration of the acquisition
Luc Perron, B.Eng., M.Sc.
Vice-President - Product Management & Marketing
Initially responsible for product development when the
company first started, Luc Perron currently is the Vice-President of Product
Management & Marketing at Optosecurity. Mr. Perron started his career as an Aerospace Engineer in the
Canadian Armed Forces and retired with the rank of Major after 20 years of service.
During his military career, he occupied several management positions related to the field
of software engineering or imaging, including the direction of a Digital Image Processing
laboratory for the Military Intelligence in Ottawa and the direction of the Canadian
Forces Imaging Test and Evaluation Laboratory also in Ottawa. He later became an
associate director for DMR Consulting, a Division of Fujitsu, where he lead several high profile
IT projects in content management such as the backlog conversion operation for the
Quebec Land Titles project. He was often called upon to contribute as an imaging expert
in projects outside of Canada for other Fujitsu consulting offices around the world. He was
awarded the title of Master of Information Technology by the Association
for Information and Image Management (AIIM) in 1999.
Louis Barbeau, B.Sc., M.Sc.A.
Vice-President - Engineering
Louis Barbeau brings over twenty four years of extensive
experience in the development of high technology products, which includes over 13 years of
people and project management for Nortel Networks, a world-leading manufacturer of
high-availability carrier-grade equipment. Following his career at Nortel,
he built a trail of successes in start-up organizations, such as Blueslice Networks
and HaiVision Systems, through his leadership of R&D teams. During his career,
Louis has been sought to direct large R&D projects and groups of more than 60 scientists
in multi-site environments. He has contributed to the filing of several patents in Europe and
the US. Louis led high-calibre projects such as the development of speech recognition
dialling systems, a mission critical high-availability/carrier grade Home Location Register
for mobile operators based on the SS7 and SIP protocols,
and high-end h.264/MPEG-4 video encoder and decoder appliances for telepresence,
telemedicine, and IPTV applications.
Charles Laflamme CFA, MBA
Chief Financial Officer
Charles Laflamme is a senior executive
with 18 years of solid experience in most areas of finance. Before,
Charles was CFO of ExelTech Aerospace and CFO of Copernic Technologies Inc. He also worked for
BCE in various capacities as well as for Bell Canada International in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
He was instrumental in Vesper obtaining more than US$700M in debt, and securing for one of
its shareholders US$500M in equity - which included at the time the largest, venture-backed
private placement in history for Latin American Telecom, and the fourth largest in U.S.
history. Charles has other international experience fulfilling finance mandates in Brasilia,
Brazil and Hyderabad, India. He is a member of the Montreal Local Advisory Committee
at TSX Venture, as well as of the Montreal Society of Financial Analysts and the
Quebec Order of Professional Engineers (OIQ).
