Optosecurity takes part in Multiplex Screening trial in Cologne Bonn Airport

Optosecurity is proud to announce that the Multiplex Screening capability recently deployed as part of the Cologne Airport “Easy Security” trial is based on its eVelocity Central Image Processing (CIP) solution.  The “Easy Security” trial is part of the cooperation between the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, and the German Aviation Association (BDL) to improve and optimize the processes of passenger management and security procedures.

The trial taking place in Terminal 1 of Cologne Bonn Airport has implemented two state of the art advanced passenger screening lanes with Optosecurity Remote Screening, replacing four conventional passenger checkpoint lanes to verify the overall performance and increased throughput that can be attained. The integrated Central Image Processing (CIP) technology enables multiplex screening of hand baggage and allows airports to enhance security whilst increasing throughput and reducing operational costs.

Michael Garvens, Chairman of the Cologne Bonn Airport Management Board commented that the “Easy Security” project was an "absolute quantum leap in control technology".

Optosecurity Launches New Remote Screening Software Suite

Optosecurity launches its new remote screening solution eVolution, addressing an unmet need in the aviation security industry.

Otherwise called centralized image processing, or multiplexing, remote screening improves the operational efficiency of security checkpoints as it provides airports with improved performance and flexibility. Already deployed on over one hundred and fifty aviation checkpoint security lanes around the world, Optosecurity’s innovative technology has proven its efficiency with eVolution’s premium counterpart eVelocity, which helped multiple airports significantly reduce operational costs, increase passenger throughput, and improve security. The new entry level solution is more than welcomed in today’s aviation industry as pressure continues to grow worldwide to comply with security requirements and ensure customer satisfaction whilst passenger traffic is swelling and facilities are reaching full capacity.

Progress is now within reach thanks to eVolution.  “We wanted to provide an affordable option for smaller airports and for employee screening that could help save money while reducing the insider collusion threats and increasing security overall.  I believe eVolution does just that.””, said CEO Tim Matthews. Targeting airports with lower passenger volume as well as staff screening at all airports, the software will provide its customers with a remote screening solution tailored to their needs and context.

Long-time development and technology partner of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

ACI Europe Airport Business published their Summer Edition on June 24, 2015 featuring an article entitled 'The Schiphol Security Experience - a new benchmark for airport security' which highlights Optosecurity's involvement in the project to centralise security at AMS.

Optosecurity, a long-time development and technology partner of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, also had a key role to play and from the very outset worked alongside the airport project team and other partners on the design and delivery of the final solution.

The company’s eVelocity solution has already been deployed at 15 lanes as part of the VFilter1 project, enabling the airport to improve screener efficiency and performance, and optimise operations by reducing the number of screeners required. This is achieved by moving them away from the lanes and into a dedicated remote screening room, where they can view the X-ray images in a quieter environment.

Tim Mathews, President and Chief Operating Officer, Optosecurity, said: “By removing screening from the often noisy and busy environment of the lane itself, screeners can focus their attention on the X-ray image in front of them and make the best security decision possible. Likewise, having a dedicated team of screeners focused exclusively on the task at hand and working more efficiently means that fewer screeners are required to operate the checkpoint and cope with passenger flow.”

Optosecurity Remote Screening at Brussels Airport - Connector Opens March 26

Connector, the most important development at Brussels Airport since 2002

(March 24 2015 / Brussels)  Today Brussels Airport Company, in the presence of His Majesty the King, officially opened the Connector building. Brussels Airport built Connector, a 75 million-euro investment, to increase passenger comfort. The building links the terminal above-ground to the two piers so passengers need less time to go from the check-in to their boarding gate. Henceforth, passengers can wait to board their plane in an open and airy building that besides a spectacular tarmac view offers a contemporary mix of shops and restaurants.  Connector will be open to the passengers as of Thursday 26 March.

"After passing through the automated access control, the passengers immediately arrive at the screening platform. With 25 screening lanes, this innovative platform is the biggest in Europe. Moreover, it uses remote screening. The security agents who view the x-ray images are no longer sitting next to the lane but in a separate control room which allows them to better concentrate."

Toulouse-Blagnac Airport will be the first airport in France to deploy a remote screening software solution for cabin baggage

Paris, March 6, 2015 – Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, in partnership with Optosecurity and Smiths Detection are proud to announce the first deployment of Checkpoint.Evo in France, in the Hall D Checkpoint of the airport.

The software solution enables remote screening of hand baggage for multiple security checkpoints.  Scanned baggage X-ray images are sent in real time to centralized screening location where a group of security agents perform image analysis.

The project aims to deploy Checkpoint.Evo on two lanes at the Hall D Checkpoint at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport. This first deployment in France is expected for summer 2015 and its objectives are to increase security, checkpoint productivity, passenger throughput, and to reduce operational costs. Checkpoint.Evo is also expected to be deployed gradually on a larger scale throughout the airport, starting in 2017.

“We believe this new approach will enable us to be more efficient and more competitive. It will allow security agents to work in the best possible conditions and allow passengers to benefit from a better experience. With Toulouse being a very high profile center of innovation in the aviation industry, it was important for us to be the first ones in France to adopt this technology.” states Alain de la Meslière, COO of Toulouse Blagnac Airport.

“This first deployment in France is a key step in the continued growth of Optosecurity and its growth in the European market. We are very proud that Toulouse Airport, one of the leaders in aviation innovation in Europe, has chosen our solution and has taken this leadership role.” states Eric Bergeron, CEO and Founder of Optosecurity.
