Vanderlande’s automated screening solution approved for primary X-ray systems at US airports

Veghel, The Netherlands, June 8 2017 – Vanderlande and its newly formed business unit Vanderlande Advanced Passenger Checkpoints (APC, formerly Optosecurity Corp.) have received approval from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for their Automated Security Lane (ASL) solution integrated with Smiths Detection’s aTiX X-ray. The approval comes shortly after Vanderlande received TSA approval of its ASL integrated with the Rapiscan 620DV. Vanderlande’s ASL is the first solution to be approved for use on both of TSA’s primary X-ray systems.

Vanderlande’s SCANNOJET and Vanderlande APC’s eVelocity solutions successfully passed TSA’s ASL assessment. This identifies and supports new capabilities to improve security and address key operational challenges at U.S. checkpoints, such as passenger waiting times and insider threats.

“We’re excited to have received a second TSA approval for our ASL solution,” says Vanderlande’s Board Member & Executive Vice President Airports, Andrew Manship. “We look forward to providing multiple ASL options to U.S. airports and airline carriers when upgrading their security checkpoints.”

“We have every confidence in our SCANNOJET system, and due to its modular design and configuration, our joint solution delivers proven increases in passenger throughput, enhancements to security and reductions in operational costs at checkpoints. It will also significantly improve the experience for passengers.”

Vanderlande’s President Airports, North America, Nick Porter, added: “With this latest approval, we are able to offer customers more flexible solutions that integrate with either Smiths or Rapiscansystems. This continues our focus on providing total solutions that meet the needs of the U.S. market.”

“The unique design of the SCANNOJET ASL allows for fast installation, which means that our customers will quickly reap the advantages of the system. This is supported by a comprehensive life-cycle services provision that truly distinguishes our solution, ensuring direct benefits for Vanderlande’s U.S. checkpoint customers, both now and in the future.”

“Our eVelocity solution is a key component of the ASL,” says Vanderlande APC’s President, Tim Mathews. “It contributes to achieving the highest performance results in terms of checkpoint efficiency and offers multiple security benefits to airports.”

“In addition, eVelocity is an adaptable solution that gives airports, airlines and regulators the flexibility to integrate market-leading checkpoint technologies. It is also another example of how we support our aviation security partners. Most importantly, we can now provide TSA with a proven remote screening solution and a common user interface that will reduce training costs and improve operator efficiency.”
