Jean-François Grenon has over 33 years of experience in the technology sector in the United States, Europe and Canada. He has designed and launched various innovative technical products and services on the global market, created several SMBs and completed numerous mergers and acquisitions. While he was at the head of Innova Corporation, he made it go public (NASDAQ) in 1997, then merged it with Digital Microwave Corporation in 1998, creating the world’s number one supplier of radio links to cellular networks. Mr. Grenon has a degree in electrical engineering from the école Polytechnique and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Eric Bergeron has 25 years of management experience in high-tech industries, including business development, sales, technology and finance. Since its foundation in 2003, he lead Optosecurity Inc., a venture-backed software company that is transforming the economics and performance of security screening and threat detection delivery in airports and other critical infrastructure. Prior to starting Optosecurity, he worked for Venture Capital fund Innovatech Québec and for US-based wireless vendor Invertix Corporation, where he served as VP and General Manager of its European division in The Netherlands. Before, he was Director of Strategic Technology Development for Telesystem International Wireless Inc., a global mobile operator. Eric began his career at Bell Canada in 1989. He was elected to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI) from 2007 to 2012. He was also appointed member of the Canadian Science, Technology and Innovation Council by Industry Minister Jim Prentice in 2008 and served a full 3-year term.
Mr. Bergeron holds a B.A.Sc. degree in Engineering Physics from Laval University, an M.Sc. degree in Telecommunications from the University of Quebec and completed the Entrepreneurship Development Program from the MIT's Sloan School of Management. He also did a research internship at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications in Paris, France, during his Master's. He is member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec and the IEEE.

Timothy Mathews brings more than 20 years experience in sales, marketing, business development, product management, and general management for global high-tech companies. Prior to joining Optosecurity, he worked for Symetrica Inc., a leading radiation detection technology company as Vice President of the U.S. operations. Previously, he was Global General Manager of the Government and Military Business for GE Security, where he had P&L responsibility for $100M Chemical & Biological Detection and identification technology portion of an approximately $400M business that serves global markets in Aviation, Military, Homeland Security, Nuclear Power, Customs and Border Protection, Intelligence, and Law Enforcement Applications. He previously was Vice-President of Marketing and Business Development at GE Security where he served as the business representative on a cross functional business development team that led to a $1B technology acquisition. He led as the sales & marketing functional leader through due diligence and integration planning, and integration of the acquisition.
Mr. Mathews has completed the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management Entrepreneurship Development Program in 2010. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the Tufts University (Medford, MA).
Richard Bélanger, FCPA, FCA, is President of Toryvel Group Inc., a holding company with investments mostly in the natural resources and aviation sectors.
A chartered accountant since 1980, Richard Bélanger was awarded the Prix Émérite and the designation “Fellow” by the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec in May 2004. Since 2003, Mr. Bélanger sits on the board of directors and the audit committee of the Laurentian Bank of Canada, and since 2006, he is President of the audit committee and is a member of the risk management committee. He is also lead independent director, a member of the audit committee and president of the special committee of WSP (formerly Genivar inc.). From May 2003 to June 2004, Mr. Bélanger was senior vice-president, eastern operations and corporate development of Canfor Corporation. He also was president and CEO of Daaquam Lumber inc. and chairman of the board and CEO of Produits forestiers Anticosti inc., both companies he co-owned. From 1982 to 1992, he was associate-director (founder) of Bélanger, Girard, Lavoie, Mooney, a chartered accountants firm.
Entrepreneur and business advisor in strategy and business development with 25 years of experience in startups and established companies of the Fortune 500/Global 2000 in Canada, Europe and the USA. His clients and investments include companies in the energy and technology sectors. Since 2012, Denis is Managing Director at Nexx Energy, a company specialized in green and renewable energy. Denis holds a MBA in Entrepreneurial Studies from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a BS in Computer Science from the University of Quebec in Montreal.
After serving 10 years as a career officer in the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps, Ad Rutten left the service in 1979 to join Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam. Initially he became Chief of Airport Police and in the following years he became General Manager Airside and General Manager Terminal Operations. In 1996, Ad left Schiphol to become CEO of a large logistics company in the Benelux and three years later he returned to the aviation industry as EVP Ground Services for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines responsible for KLM’s worldwide ground operations at 120 airports. In 2002 he became Executive Director for the Engineering & Maintenance division of KLM comprising a fleet of 160 aircraft in KLM group and many external customers. In 2005 Ad Rutten returned to Schiphol Group as COO, from which he retired on September 1, 2014.
Phil Anzarut joined BDC Capital in 2009 and is partner in the Diversified Portfolio. Phil is a former investment banker, having begun his career in corporate finance at HSBC Securities. He has also worked independently, providing financial advisory services to Canadian small-cap companies.
In 2001, he joined TELUS Corporation as Director of Corporate Development / Mergers & Acquisitions, and spent the next seven years leading acquisitions and strategic divestitures on behalf of TELUS — both at the corporate level and for TELUS Ventures. Phil has also led acquisitions on behalf of CAE Inc. in Montreal. He is a member of the Board of Directors of TBayTel as well as several BDC Capital portfolio companies and holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Phil holds a Bachelor's of Microbiology and Immunology from McGill University and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University.
